Observatory of private hire and taxi in Spain
How many taxi licences and VTC authorisations are in force in Spain and in each region, and the ratio between them. Only figures from the administration: each one says where it comes from and when it was consulted. What has no source is not here.
No figures published yet.
The observatory only publishes figures from the administration with their source, link and date. When the first figures from the Ministry of Transport's authorisation register are loaded, they will appear here, by region.
How to read these figures
A taxi licence is granted by the town council and allows street hailing, rank and booked work within its municipality or joint service area; a VTC authorisation is issued by the region on behalf of the State and only allows pre-booked services. The historical ratio set by the transport regulation was one VTC authorisation for every thirty taxi licences; since 2018 each region regulates urban services its own way, which is why the actual ratio varies so much between them. The figures are counts of titles in force in a period, not of vehicles on the street or services provided.
